Learning Support Service

We are here to help students across the University who have a range of additional support needs. We support students in a number of ways and are committed to providing inclusive education in a safe and positive environment. Our service has a growing reputation and we're delighted to have associations with key organisations such as Action for Blind People, North East Autism Society and ESPA University.

At present there are five support teams within the Learning Support Service (LSS) dedicated to assisting students across the University:

◦Autism and Asperger Syndrome support team
◦Dyslexia support team
◦Learning Difficulties and Physical Disabilities support team
◦Mental Health and Wellbeing support team
◦Sensory Support Team

Additionally the service has an Assistive Technology team and Transcription Service available to provide adapted learning materials, specialist equipment, software and training to students with additional support needs.
